John & I have many things in common, but also
enjoy very different interests. John
took an early retirement at age 54. Knowing
how important it is to have something of interest to fill his time, he decided
to teach himself the craft of woodworking.
That was an excellent choice, and he has developed into an extremely
good cabinet maker. Unlike me, John
tends to be a perfectionist, and it shows in his woodworking skills. He enjoys watching sports, but not to the
point of fanaticism. Football (the
I was working for 3 days a week, as a Constituency
Assistant for our local MPP, until he lost in the Provincial Election in
2007. Now I am retired, and enjoy my
time with my family and hobbies. My
main hobby, of course, is genealogy, which I began in earnest around 1998. I asked for a new computer for Christmas, and
hooked up to the internet for the first time.
That opened many doors for my research to begin, and I haven’t stopped
since. I also very much enjoy sewing,
and have learned to quilt. I am
thinking about taking a dressmaking course, joining the local genealogical
society, and maybe even learn to play the piano. Music has been a big part of my life, and I
enjoyed leading our Church choir for a number of years. I have been singing solos since I was eight
years old. I too played in The Salvation
Army band until recently (for about 45 years), after learning to play a
euphonium in high school.
Our two daughters have played a major role in our
lives, and continue to be a source of great pride for both of us. And now we have the most wonderful grandsons
God ever made!
Travelling together has been a relatively new form
of enjoyment for John and I. We went to
