About Our PARKER Branch

My husband, John Monkman, is descended from a William Duke Parker, who was born in 1774 in Leitrim County, Ireland.   He and his wife Ruth emigrated to Canada in 1819.  He was granted Crown Land on broken lots 12 and 13 in Albion Township, Ontario.   He was known as “the Colonel” in Albion, as he had been a Sgt. with the militia in Ireland, for 16 years.  You will find our Parker family tree by clicking above.

William & Ruth Parker had at least 5 children.  Two daughters, Elizabeth and Alice, married two brothers, John and James Monkman.   They all lived and raised their families in Albion Township, Peel County, Ontario.

Our branch is through the younger daughter, Alice Parker.  She and James Monkman had at least six children, and the last child, James Mathias Monkman and his first wife Elizabeth Ann Anderson, were my husband’s great grandparents.

I have no further details pertaining to our PARKER branch.  If you have information to share, I would be happy to hear from you!  Linda@ourbegats.com
